Old magazines are a goldmine of information but imagine my surprise when I came across this? The Popular Mechanics Feb 1971 issue had an article entitled “Make Your Own Faceting Machine” and here it is in full. It’s not exactly the easiest looking home project, but hey, if you’ve got the time and inclination, go for it.
Have you tried building your own faceting machine? Tell us about it? Drop a line or give us a comment below. We’d love to hear your experiences.

i have been trying to download this faceting machine details from the Google books site and cannot print the details out. Aparantly they are coded in MHTML.and cannot be printed only read. because of the complexity of the drawings it is not possible to draw them freehand. Do you know of any way that i can obtain this article as i am very interested in constructing this unit. i have a full workshop of tools and am a toolmaker by trade
Your help would be appreciated.
I've tried to find a back issue of the magazine, and your local library may have it in micro-fiche? I didn't check yet with my library but that seems one place to start. You can also take screen shots and print those — I've tried it and it works though you end up with a lot of pages that would need to be cut-n-pasted together (just like the good old days!).
I also tried Ebay today and did find someone in Australia with that issue but they were not sending to the US (perhaps they could be persuaded though, as I did not try). Good luck!
